Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G

Motorola has been doing really good work with the launchers a few months ago. There was the Motorola Edge 40 5G for around INR 30K; it was a good phone, and the Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G is sort of like the younger brother, starting at INR 23,999, so the question that has to be asked is, is it a good phone at that price? Well, to answer these questions, we have been using this phone for some time now. So we will share our practical opinion on this phone, so let’s go…

Now, after using the Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G phone for a few days, I would say there are three things that I really found interesting about this phone, and the first would be the build and display. If I talk about the build, I would see that the in-hand feel of this phone is something that I like. For starters, the weight of this phone is just 173 grams. That is pretty good; usually other phones have 180 grams or so. This feels very light on the hand. It has a curved design, like the display here, which is curved even though the back is curved.

The Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G runs Android 13 and is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable battery. The Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G supports 68W Turbo Charge fast charging.

On the front, you get a 6.5-inch FHD+ 144 Hz P OLED display. This is the curved display, and technically, it is the 144 Hz display, but by default, most of the time it remains at 90 Hz, like on Instagram or YouTube. But if you want to go to 144 Hz, you will have to manually set it to 144 Hz. That being said, the quality of the display is really nice.

The color, sharpness, and everything else are so nice. This is an HDR panel, like on YouTube, where you can see HDR videos. However, it doesn’t support HDR on Netflix; that’s not a big deal, in my opinion. That means I have the Basic Netflix subscription, and videos on all work just fine. And also, there are Dolby Atmos with dual studio speakers, and yes, I like the build quality and display of the Moto G40 Neo.

The most important thing that you care about is the camera, because I think everyone now primarily uses their phone to click pictures, so on the back you get two cameras. 50 Megapixel Main Camera with OIS and a 13 Megapixel Ultrawide Angle Camera. At first glance, the pictures can all seem nice, like outdoor pictures look good; they are slightly boosted than natural.

The ultrawide camera is slightly better than the main camera; the ultrawide camera acts as a macro camera. Coming to the front, you get a 32-megapixel selfie camera. And if you talk about videos, you can do 4K at 30 fps on the main camera as well as the ultrawide-angle camera, but you cannot switch between them while the video is recording. And you can also do 4K recording on the front.

Now we will talk about performance. The Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G is the first phone to come with the all-new MediaTek Dimensity 7030 processor. Also, this variant here has 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM along with 250GB of UFS 2.2 storage, so in normal day-to-day tasks like browsing and all of that, I did not find any lag with the Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G phone. Now we ran everyone’s favorite Antutu Benchmark; it scores around 5 lakh 21k, which is closer to the Snapdragon 778G. Overall, overall you can easily play games and have tasks. So I would say the performance for the price range is good.

That was our first impression of the all-new Moto Edge 40 Neo 5G. Now, to answer the question, is it worth it? Well, it depends on your need. It is a good-looking phone, and the movie-watching experience is good. Casual game play is good; there is no major complaint as such, just that the camera could have been better. Now the 8/128 GB variant of the Moto Edge 40 Neo is starting at 23,999, and during the holiday sales, Motorola will be bringing down the price to about 20,999.
