OnePlus Nord CE 4

OnePlus, a renowned name in the smartphone industry, has recently unveiled its latest mid-range marvel, the OnePlus Nord CE 4. This phone, packed with outstanding capabilities, aims to provide a high-quality user experience without breaking the budget.

In this detailed review, we will delve deep into the various aspects of the OnePlus Nord CE 4, evaluating its pros and cons.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Overview

The OnePlus Nord CE 4, the latest addition to the Nord series, strikes an excellent balance between price and features.

The CE in the name stands for Core Edition, indicating that OnePlus focused on significant features while removing certain unnecessary additions.

The phone comes in two variants: 8GB RAM with 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM with 256GB storage.

Camera Capabilities – Average camera smartphone?

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 sports a dual-camera system at the rear, comprising a 50MP Sony LYT600 wide and an 8MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide sensor. The primary camera delivers reliable performance in bright conditions, capturing natural colors with a balanced white balance.

The ultra-wide camera, although not as good as the primary camera, still offers similar colors but with a softer dynamic range. So, yes OnePlus should few improvement in camera department with software updates.

On the front of the device houses a 16MP selfie camera, which does a decent job of capturing selfies with accurate skin tones. However, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 lacks a dedicated macro mode, which might disappoint photography enthusiasts.

Design and Build

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 boasts a simplistic yet elegant design. The plastic body sports a glossy finish with a marble pattern on the back. It’s available in two color variants – Dark Chrome and Celadon Marble. Though the phone’s back panel feels plasticky, it is resistant to fingerprint smudges, which is a significant plus.

The Nord CE 4 features a pill-shaped camera island on the rear, housing two camera sensors and an LED flash. The camera module design is similar to the original OnePlus Nord CE from 2021. The device is light and comfortable to hold, thanks to its curved edges and the 8.4mm thickness.

Display Quality

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels. The display supports a 120Hz refresh rate, resulting in smooth and vibrant visuals. However, some users will disappoint the thicker bezels of the smartphone because there are many phones in this budget with fewer bezels.

Software and User Interface

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 runs on OxygenOS 14, based on Android 14. The phone offers a clean and responsive software experience with minimal bloatware.

OnePlus promises two years of Android OS updates and three years of security patches, which is less impressive compared to some competitors offering longer support.

Performance and Processing Power

Equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 delivers solid performance for most tasks. The phone handles apps and games well without any noticeable lag or stutter. However, it struggles to play high-resolution videos on YouTube, especially HDR videos, which cause freezing and crashing.

Battery Life and Charging Speeds

One of the key highlights of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 is its massive 5500mAh battery. The phone can easily last for a full day or even more with moderate to heavy usage. Moreover, the Nord CE 4 supports 100W SuperVOOC charging, capable of charging the device from 0 to 100 percent in under 35 minutes.

Final Verdict: Pros and Cons

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is a no-nonsense, reliable mid-range smartphone. Its strong battery life, smooth Android interface, and outstanding primary camera are its main advantages. However, it falls short on camera flexibility and software support.

Pros:

  • The OnePlus Nord CE 4 offers a sleek design, impressive display, and powerful performance.
  • The phone handles daily tasks smoothly and offers a clean Android experience.
  • The large 5500mAh battery lasts well over a day on a single charge.

Cons:

  • The OnePlus Nord CE 4 lacks a dedicated macro mode.
  • Asymmetrical bezels around the display might not appeal to some users.

In summary, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 is a great choice for everyday users looking for a reliable and feature-packed smartphone within the mid-range price segment.
